Load banks
for commissioning
computer rooms and data centers

To test the power supply and air conditioning of computer rooms including server racks:
KVA Applications load banks for Data Centers in action

Upstream operation: load banks to validate the infrastructures before installing the data
center hardware

Before any IT system installation, especially datacenters, a complete building test is required to check both the electrical installation and the air conditioning. While standard load banks can be used upstream to test backup power generators, our mobile (21kW) and rackmounted (6kW) heater load banks simulate downstream the power consumption and warmup of computers or servers. They consume the electrical power and evacuate the heat in a similar way to that of the future servers. These tests validate the premises before the final installation of expensive and sensitive equipment.

Custom-made load banks

The required powers can vary from 5kW to several tens, depending on the type of rack and servers used. Similarly, various air temperatures can be air conditioned. That’s why we offer custom-designed banks for your data centers:

  • Automatic change of power track;
  • Connection sockets of all types (IEC or other);
  • Variable ventilation;
  • Rack-mounted or standing;
  • Weighting function, to load up your network if it is oversized;

Discharge banks to validate the autonomy of your battery racks.

Tests are also necessary to check battery life, which often constitutes a weakness in the inverter system. To monitor their capacity, battery monitoring systems are permanently installed, especially in large data centers. These systems, as powerful as they are, do not allow to systematically validate the proper operation of the battery. So a discharge test is a good complement.
